Neo’s Three Peaks Challenge for Thrombosis UK
On 10th September, a team from Neo Property Services stepped up to stop blood clots, taking on the Yorkshire Three Peaks to raise funds and awareness for Thrombosis UK.
Thrombosis UK was nominated as Neo’s charity partner after the passing of dear colleague Stephen Toulson from thrombosis in 2020.
The Three Peaks Challenge was taken on by Marc Cork and Kelly Pitts from Neo, along with Kelly’s husband, who were hoping to beat their target of £2,400. One of the best ways to beat Thrombosis is by staying active, so this was the perfect challenge!
The team of three walked for around 12 hours over the peaks of Pen-y-ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough in the Yorkshire Dales National Park. That’s 24 miles (38.6km) with 1,585m (5,200ft) of ascent. This isn’t a challenge for the faint hearted, as participants walked almost a marathon’s distance, climbing peaks higher than Ben Nevis in under 12 hours.
About Thrombosis UK
The charity works to increase awareness, support research, and extend understanding through education and the sharing of information to improve care for all those affected by thrombosis. Annually, Thrombosis UK offers research grants and travel fellowships for healthcare professionals and scientists whose study will help improve the experience and outcomes of VTE patients or extend the understanding of thrombosis.
Thrombosis UK’s research strategy seeks to:
- Improve understanding
- Inform prevention, treatment and management
- Protect those at risk and improve the outcomes for everyone affected by thrombosis.
